“celebrities on campus”

Director M. Night Shyamalan of The Sixth Sense fame and The Last Airbender infamy, was on campus today to tour the University with his wife and high-school-aged daughter, who was carrying a packet of applicant information.

Members of Umqombothi, the African a cappella group, invited the family to their upcoming show when they stopped by the group’s booth in Frist. Shyamalan declined, but he chatted with the group for a bit. When Umqombothi members asked him if he directed films, he simply put a finger to his lips and walked away.

Here are some very shady pictures of the director and his family:

We’re used to our fare share of celebrities here in the Bubble, but that doesn’t mean we don’t still get starstruck: Forest Whitaker, the Academy-Award-winning American actor of Last King of Scotland fame, was on campus today for a meeting at the Center for African American Studies. Sophomore Uchechi Kalu was lucky enough to be on the scene: “I was working at Stanhope Hall, and everyone was wearing business casual, so I knew something was up–and then this ray of sunshine walked into the office and shook my hand!  He’s just as kind and well-dressed as you’d imagine. Thank God I decided against sweatpants this morning!”  Definitely a memorable way to end the week.

[UPDATED]

We just spotted John Legend on the steps of the Architecture building, dressed in black, posing for a photo with a huge group of students. We hear he’s on campus for AAS 348/ENG 348: Black Popular Music Culture.

After the “Ordinary People” crooner signed autographs and took photos, he disappeared toward Frist, leaving behind him a trail of awestruck Princeton students. “John! John!” they yelled as he retreated, signing course packets all the way. We saw one sophomore shake his head slowly, a smile of disbelief on his face, as he walked to class.

No, really.

UPDATE: Some more details from his visit after the jump, courtesy of a student in the class.  Turns out he’s been working with this weekend’s USG Lawnparties band, The Roots:
