Mystery Stickerer Spreads Happiness
Monday, 21 February 2011
by Lauren Zumbach
So I always wondered: what’s the deal with the inspirational quote-inscribed Priority Mail address labels that began mysteriously appearing around campus this year? You’ve probably spotted them around campus – on a metal callbox, the Dinky, a lamppost, or a printer cluster. Well, wonder no longer: they’re the evidence of a project whose mission is simple:

On Prince Archives–and Ruining Any Chance You Have of Running for President?
Friday, 18 February 2011
by Angela Wu
Last May, the Prince and Mudd Library launched the Larry DuPraz Digital Archives, which offers scans of The Daily Princetonian from its early issues in 1876 through 2002. Going through the collection, named after the paper’s former production manager and informal adviser, is like stepping back in history. I highly recommend it, when you’re feeling

If YLIStressed…
Friday, 18 February 2011
by Alice Su
Try out this revolutionary idea: do nothing for 2 minutes. Seriously, though. This website will force you to sit in front of your computer and listen to the sound of waves for 2 full minutes. Breathe in. Breathe out. Forget your thesis. Let your JP be washed away. Soak in a blissful void of problem

Condiment Clairvoyance
Wednesday, 16 February 2011
by David Walter
Today I went to Firestone’s rare books department to look at a book about medieval typefaces. I had heard that this book was really beautiful, and it was! I got lost in an enchanted forest of fonts, and by the time I found my way out I only had fifteen minutes left before seminar to

The Great Gatsby – the Video Game?
Wednesday, 16 February 2011
by Spencer Gaffney
Certain books lend themselves to video game adaptation. (Lord of the Rings? Hell yes! Who doesn’t want to tromp around Middle Earth slaying orcs and what not?) Other literary classics? Like, say, The Great Gatsby? Not so much. Or so we thought. Turns out someone decided F. Scott Fitzgerald’s tale of high society in the

Dear Santa, er, USG …
Wednesday, 16 February 2011
by Lauren Zumbach
The holidays may have come and gone, but the USG is still taking votes on what Princetonians are wishing for. While the USG hasn’t officially commented on the results, voting information from the “Which do you want more?” survey that’s been available on Point for the past month is available at the USG’s All Our

Coughing in ECO 101: A Study
Tuesday, 15 February 2011
by Giri Nathan
Winter wanes, but we’re all still sick. I’ve noticed that my ECO 101 lecture has recently sounded like one sustained 50-minute cough, so today I decided to see if I could find some empirical evidence of that. For 10 minutes, I tuned my delicate ear to all the pleasant sounds reverberating throughout McCosh 50. (Sadly

How are all the lonely hearts out there, Princeton? Hope you’re not avoiding any and all pink and red this February 14th, because campus is sure glowing with it this sunny afternoon. Student Global AIDS Campaign’s Condomgrams are turning out to be a big hit in Frist mailboxes this year. And if you’re looking for last-minute

Punxsutawney Phil and Meteorologists Reach Agreement on Predictions
Sunday, 13 February 2011
by Abby Greene
If you were one of the thousands of people keeping an eye on Punxsutawney Phil last week, then you already know we’re due for just one more week of winter. If you weren’t, check out (a very confused looking) Phil in this video. (Also of note: Phil’s powers are apparently not limited to meteorological prediction.
